The iftar program in London, hosted by UID UK President Halil Erdoğan, was attended by Turkey’s Ambassador to London Osman Koray Ertaş, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to London Elin Suleymanov, AK Party UK Representative Erdal Yetimova, and London Yunus Emre Institute Director Mehmet Karakuş, along with other guests and Turkish citizens.

The program began with a recitation from the Qur'an, followed by the screening of a promotional video introducing UID UK’s activities.

In his speech during the event, UID UK President Erdoğan stated that they gathered not only to break fast, but also to strengthen shared values and build the future together.

Erdoğan emphasized that Turks living abroad must act as individuals who contribute to the country they live in and add value to the society around them, stating:

“Living in harmony and achieving integration is not a choice but a necessity for us. However, while integrating, we must never compromise our identity, language, or culture. Without disconnecting from our roots, we must continue to exist as a bridge between two cultures. In this regard, UID plays a major role. We are a civil society organization that supports social harmony while also preserving our own values.”

Erdoğan also highlighted the importance of UID membership, noting that joining the UID family means being part of a strong network of solidarity, acting toward common goals, and contributing to both individual and social development.

Addressing the topic of foster care, President Erdoğan emphasized that UID, as an organization driven by a strong sense of social responsibility, attaches great importance to the foster care system.

He stressed that increasing the number of foster families is a shared responsibility so that children can grow up in safe and loving environments, stating: “We will continue our efforts to raise awareness on this issue and involve more families in the process.”

"UID’s efforts are valuable"

In his speech, Turkey’s Ambassador to London, Osman Koray Ertaş, expressed his pleasure in attending the iftar hosted by UID UK.

Ertaş emphasized the significance of the month of Ramadan and shared his happiness in coming together with Turkish and Muslim communities during this period of unity and solidarity.

He noted that the world is going through a critical period and underlined the importance of maintaining unity and solidarity during such times.

In this context, Ambassador Ertaş highlighted the valuable efforts UID has made for many years in every region where Turks reside abroad, and he wished success to the new leadership of UID UK.

Following the speeches, attendees shared the iftar meal.
