A large-scale iftar program was held in the UK’s capital, London, by the Union of International Democrats (UID). Hosted by UID UK President Halil Erdoğan, the event was attended by Turkey’s Ambassador to London Osman Koray Ertaş, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador Elin Suleymanov, AK Party UK Representative Erdal Yetimova, Director of the London Yunus Emre Institute Mehmet Karakuş, and many Turkish citizens.
The program began with a recitation from the Qur'an, followed by the screening of a video introducing UID UK’s activities. In his speech, UID President Erdoğan emphasized that the iftar was not merely a dinner gathering, but also a moment to strengthen shared values and highlight the importance of unity and collective action.
Erdoğan stated that Turks living abroad should contribute to the society they live in while preserving their cultural identity. He also highlighted the importance UID places on the foster family system, stating that they aim to involve more families in this process.
Ambassador Ertaş praised UID’s work and stated that such events help strengthen social solidarity. The program concluded with the iftar meal.
